Jog-a-Thon/Bobcat Blast

Run by: BSPTO

Timing: Late April

Needs Volunteers: Yes

Our annual Jog-A-Thon, the “Bobcat Blast”, is our spring fundraiser. The students raise money by getting sponsored to jog laps around the 1/4 mile track, it’s great exercise and a lot of fun!  Sponsorships can be a flat amount, or a per lap amount. They get 20 minutes to do as many laps as they can, which varies by grade level.  We had one or two 5th graders go 12 or 13 laps.  But most students are under 10 laps, with the younger grades usually topping out at 8.

Check the calendar event for the current years flyer.

If you or your child’s sponsors work for Intel/Nike please check out the Company Matching page for info on the easiest way to get your donation matched which also allows you to use a credit card.

Otherwise you can donate with cash, check (made out to BSPTO) or PayPal (They take a % though)

Students are asked to wear a shirt that matches their classes color (should be noted in the packet that comes home).  During the jog students will have an index card pinned to their shirt.  As they pass the Class tent a volunteer will mark the card for each lap.  And the end they will get an Otter pop.

Volunteers are needed to plan this campaign usually starting in the late fall.  Prizes need to be figured out and such.  Before the event help is needed to prepare the packets that go home with the kids.  During the event volunteers are needed to staff the class tents, marking laps on children’s cards, handing out Otter pops.  Additional help is needed to add up marks for each card and record them for sending home with the child.  Afterward, help is needed to tally up the returned pledge envelopes and prepare prize bags.
